BOIPATONG. - Soon after Vaal Weekly's revelation that a man was sought in connection with a case of murder for stabbing a woman 12 times, the Boipatong SAPS detective task team made an arrest in Muvhango last week.

According to police spokesperson Inspector Aubrey Moopeloa, Elias "Maeli" Motiloe was arrested by the task team for allegedly stabbing a woman 12 times at a tavern in Boipatong.

Before the arrest police had warned the public not to arrest the suspect as he is known to be very generous with the knife and could endanger innocents.

It is alleged that Motiloe and the woman had an argument and that, when she went to the toilet, outside Motiloe allegedly followed her and stabbed her before being seen by a tavern worker. The tavern owner took the woman to hospital, where she then died. Meanwhile the suspect made off to another tavern and could not be found when police arrived at the scene.

Motiloe had been sought since and was arrested in Muvhango, Bophelong. He appeared at the Vanderbijlpark magistrate's court and the case was remanded to later next month for a formal bail application.

It is believed that the investigating officers will oppose bail, but until then the suspect remains in jail.
