SHARPEVILLE. - A 32-year-old epileptic mother's youthful body was eaten alive by flames in Phomolong Section on Friday morning.

Witnesses allege that Mantele Dorah Tladi might have been trying to cook something on the electric stove where she possibly suffered an epileptic fit.

According to her live-in lover, Thabang Tshabalala, earlier that Friday morning he decided to take their 6-month-old boy with him to run some errands in Vereeniging when he received a call that he must immediately go back home. That was when he discovered the terrible situation.

"After receiving the call I immediately rushed back home, only to discover that Dorah was consumed by the fire. I don't know what went wrong, but she was epileptic and it is possible that she might have suffered an attack while an electrical appliance was on. The shack caught fire and I have lost everything! As I speak to you the only thing that my child and I have are the clothes were are wearing," says the teary-eyed Tshabalala.

Tshabalala says that he had taken their young son to town with him as he wanted to give the young mother time and space to clean and do laundry, as she had planned to do so on that day.

According to witnesses, Tladi was a strong epileptic sufferer, so much so that when she gave birth earlier this year, her child had to be taken away from her for a while in fear of him suffering injuries after she had suffered another one of her attacks.

Sharpeville SAPS spokesperson Inspector Aubrey Moopeloa says that in cases like this a thorough investigation needs to be done. Investigations are underway and no foul play is suspected.
