By Mduduzi Mathebula EVATON. - This time year is supposed to mark a celebration of humanity and kindness, but Saturday in displayed just the opposite as Minkie Sesing, a six-month-old pregnant resident of Evaton was brutally beaten up, stabbed, and nearly died in a burning shack with her four year-old-daughter Lerato.
Lovers' quarrel is not a new thing for Sesing and her lover, but it gained a brutish new meaning when her boyfriend lashed out and attacked Sesing and her four-year-old daughter, stabbing both of them with a screwdriver before setting the woman's shack on fire. "I thought it was only a minor argument and I was shocked when my boyfriend stabbed me several times. He left the house soon thereafter and when he returned, he set my home on fire. Luckily my neighbours intervened and rescued my daughter and I," says a traumatised Sesing. When Vaal Weekly arrived at the scene, community members were desperately trying to put out the blaze. Police and fire fighters were deployed to assist, but their efforts were in vain, as the house burned to the ground. Two hours after the incident, the ambulance arrived to assist the mother, her daughter and her unborn baby. According to one Sesing's neighbours, the victim was abused on numerous occasions, but none of them ever suspected that the relationship would end up like this. Residents have no idea what led to the suspect's violent behaviour, but they vowed that if he ever returns, he would surely regret it. Police say that they will look into this matter. |
